I’ve been listening to podcasts for the last five years and I’ve learned so much useful information along with helping me feel motivated. Listening to podcasts has helped me gain the confidence to blog. I’ve listened to countless bloggers share their story of becoming a successful blogger, which motivates me that I can do this!
When I’m working, travelling or just taking me some time, I have to be listening to something and listening to music fourteen hours a day was getting a little…boring. I only know so many songs.
I mainly use Spotify, which offers a huge range of podcasts for a 20 something and I’ve been hooked since day one.
In this guide, you’ll find:
- What is a podcast?
- The best 6 podcasts for 20 something.
- Where you can find podcasts.
- The Future
Let’s find your next podcast!
What is a podcast?
Before I get ahead of myself, let’s get the basics down.
What is a podcast?
A podcast is an audible book or series, almost like the radio. The creator will create a digital file and upload this to the internet. These are completely free and accessible to anyone with an internet connection.
Podcasts have only been around since 2004, and already they are taking over. There are currently around 850,000 active podcasts on the internet right now. With around 3 million episodes.
Which is insane!
The Best 6 podcasts for 20 something
As an active listener to podcasts, I’ve created a list of the six best podcasts. These are the most interesting and informative that I’ve listened to.
If you’re struggling with anxiety or wanting to reduce your anxiety, this podcast is for you. This is my number one favourite podcast at the moment and is top of the list for best podcasts for 20 something.
To say it changed my life would be dramatic, but it really did change my ways.
Tim JP Collins currently has 425 episodes available, with multiple guests.
Tim goes through anxiety, social anxiety, triggers and fears, ways to help ourselves and just general life tips that can improve your way of living.
One of the best lessons that I learned in this podcast was “CATS”. This is on episode 4. I know you’re probably thinking what are you talking about. CATS stands for:
These four things increase anxiety. Since listening to that episode, I have cut caffeine out my life completely. I remember listening to the podcast whilst drinking a Red bull and eating a chocolate brownie.
I chucked my Red bull in the bin and I’ve not had an energy drink or coffee in 18 months. Crazy I know! But he was right, even cutting out one of those things has reduced my anxiety.
Tim also reads out emails and provides feedback to listeners. Of course, I had to write to him to explain how much his podcast had changed my life and basically fan girl over it. (Episode 371, 7:28)
This is my favourite podcast of all time, it helps me better myself and I also enjoy life whilst managing my anxiety.
This is for the crime and thriller seekers. Sword and Scale is the best crime podcasts out there.
I think this is the only podcast I’ve listened to every single episode on.
This podcast includes a lot of hard evidence, including 911 calls and courtroom hearings. Sword and Scale dive deeper into each crime and reveals information that was never revealed in the media at the time.
This podcast is not for the squeamish and also check each podcast title and outline as some episodes can be triggering.
The reason I enjoy this podcast so much is that it’s current. He covers both old crimes along with current crimes that haven’t yet been solved.
This is my go-to when I’m working, I listen to this podcast for hours on end. Each episode is a different crime. If the story is juicy and requires more air time, this is split into two parts.
Sword and Scale currently have 174 episodes and still continuing to make content.
This is one of the newer podcasts that I’ve started but wow, I’ve learned so much already. This is at the top for the best lifestyle podcasts.
The Confused Millennial podcast is perfect for a 20 something. There are currently 62 episodes which feature some amazing guests. This podcast is there to help millennial’s make their way through adult life, and my god it helps.
My favourite episode is How to become who you are meant to be with Human Design. Rachel goes into detail about what it means to be a manifesting generator and how she lives her best life.
I am also a manifesting generator and found the podcast very inspiring. Since this podcast, I have researched endless hours on my human design and found some amazing finds about myself.
Another episode that I really enjoyed was How to use colour to live your best life. I know this sounds bizarre at first, but looking into colour therapy and how colour can change our lives is fascinating.
The Confused Millenial podcast started in 2018, even though this is fairly new, there’s a lot to listen to and some really amazing and eye-opening stuff.
I can’t wait to continue to listen to Rachel through her journey.
I can’t have the best podcasts for 20 something and not include Ted Talks.
Ted talks are podcasts that last no more than 18 minutes as they find people pay more attention to a shorter presentation than say an hour. I find this very effective and love the shorter podcasts.
TED stands for – Technology, Entertainment and Design.
Ted talks originally started in 1984 and were video and they now offer podcasts.
They cover countless issues with different speakers. They currently cover seven different topics:
- The Big Idea
- The Tech Demo
- The Performance
- The Artist’s Statement
- The “Dazzle with wonder”
- The Small Idea
- The “Issue” Talk
If you would like to appear as a guest speaker then your talk must come under one of these categories.
There are now over 3600 Ted talks available. The range is unbelievable from climate change to steroids at the gym. There really is something for everyone.
I started off reading The Skinny Confidential and then moved across to the podcast. I started reading the blog because I was in awe of her life.
She built her blog and is now one of the biggest bloggers. Her blog is inspiring. The blog covers a range of topics from beauty, recipes to realness.
There are 308 episodes. The podcast overview is learning to live your best life. I find the podcast very encouraging to continue my blogging career and to not give up as look where you can end up.
The podcast touches lifestyle, depression, sex addiction – literally this podcast covers all topics.
A very motivational episode is with Aimee Song on how to create a career online. This helped me build my platform and made me feel confident in what I am doing.
If you’re looking for an empowering podcast, this one is for you! Kaitlyn created the podcast to help people become their best self.
There are currently 120 episodes, so you’ll have plenty to keep you busy.
Kaitlyn has some famous guests on the show, which I love! My favourite episode is Chrishell from Selling Sunset. If you’re a fan of the show, give this a listen!
This podcast includes games, laughs, taboo topics and lots of wine, what’s not to love about it.
I’ve just started listening to this podcast and I can’t wait to work my way through the episodes.
Where can you find podcast?
There are a lot of options for listening to podcasts, but my favourite is Spotify. I pay £9.99 each month for my music and podcasts. They do offer a free version but I like to listen without ads.
Apple also offers a separate podcasts app on the I Phone that you can download on the app store. I have only used this a handful of times but it’s easy to use and free!
Another great app is Google Podcasts. I am a massive Google fan and I have started using Google Podcasts.
Podcasts are free and very accessible, it’s great for working, commuting and just looking for some me time and improve your life.
Creating podcasts is becoming more accessible and I am honestly so happy! On my goal list, I hope to have a podcast in the next two years. I find podcasts enjoyable and something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Due to being a one-woman show at the moment, I am trying to focus on my blog until I’m at a point I can take on more.
I hope to find myself on the list for the best podcasts for 20 something one day.
Podcasts are the perfect listening tool for any occasion as there is a podcast for any topic. Podcasts can help you feel motivated, if you’re feeling down, get a podcast on and remind yourself why you’re amazing.
I can’t wait to continue the endless hours of listening to podcasts.
